Beatriz Santos (b. 1996), photography graduate from Universidade Católica (Porto), is a Porto-based artist whose multidisciplinary background in drawing, sculpture and photography has enabled her to explore an unique visual language. Her approach to photography, now her dedicated artistic medium, takes on the weight of sternness, the fear of failure, and the questioning of the complexity of family bonds and their innate conflict. 

Portraying intimacy and distance through architectural means, Beatriz’s work focuses on the unavoidable sense of ruin relative to heritage and relationships within the contained interiors of communal spaces. Paired with the burden of nostalgia, Beatriz uses photography as a mechanism to counteract feelings of hopelessness towards that which is inescapable.
